I am so happy to write a review about Dr Tran and the care I got from her and Katherine both. When I came to see Dr Tran, she was hand selected to take over the practice of an optometrist that I had been seeing for years. Changing docs when a practitioner I loved retires can be a stressful situation. However, I really appreciated Dr Tran the minute we met.
She is calm, thoughtful, professional, knowledgeable and cares a lot about me and my concerns. Additionally, she is upbeat and always looks at the best in the situation not in some airy fairy way but rather because she is a positive person and holds to her high ideals.
I happen to have a body where the usual response that most people experience is not my pattern. I fall outside of the norm, am hypersensitive to many drugs others can easily tolerate, and routine challenges can be difficult for my body to manage.
Yet, Dr Tran respected my individuality, went over and beyond to help me, had a bag of tricks outside the usual to recommend, lent me equipment to test so I didn’t have to buy it and always listened respectfully and curiously to see if she could put together some answers for me. She was able to refer me to my perfect opthamologist who was able to further support me in my visual concerns.
At this point, I am quite stable in my eye health which is not the prognosis I was given by several ophthalmologists. That being so, as stable as I am, she still made a recommendation to further my well being. Because my 2 eyes see differently–one near sighted and one far sighted, the consequences can have a challenging effect on my brain. So that even though my vision is fine without glasses, Dr Tran recommended glasses not for my vision but for my brain to integrate. This takes a practitioner who is able to see (no pun intended) that there is more to my well being than just getting my visual acuity working well. Rather it takes someone rooted in wellness care, able to see the bigger picture in health to make suggestions that are not just symptomatically oriented.
In my mind I make a distinction between such type of practitioners. There are many many great technicians who in this case might feel they did a great job once my visual needs became stable. However, it takes a healer to go beyond that and see what is needed, not led by symptoms but rather having the knowledge and wisdom to be preventative. These practitioners I call healers and certainly put Dr Tran in that category.
I am so grateful to Dr Tran for her excellent care and so highly recommend her.
